Whenever you’ve ever felt under appreciated at work as a woman, you should not. Women are becoming ever more common in work environments and even have uncommon skills that will help them succeed even in a male-dominated vocation. Becoming Aware of the inherent self empowering resources for women, that women already have, is extremely powerful.
Women posses innate skills, but may feel as if their talents are not related to the work environment. This is incorrect. It is true that women, no different from men, still need to master practical and specialized business skills in order to succeed, but when it comes to climbing the corporate ladder, they have distinctive abilities that corporations reward. Just by using these skills, women can allow themselves to obtain anything and everything they desire.
We can start with communication, a ability that is vital to success. Women are natural communicators. I’m sure that you’ve seen how a mother seems to “just know” how vital it is to talk and interact with her kids, using fitting words and phrase-construction that a kid can make sense of. This identical skill, reworked subtly, functions splendidly in a professional setting. For example, a woman who finds herself in charge of other employees has tobe able to communicate with every person individually in a manner that each person can comprehend.
Helen Fisher, the author of The First Sex: The Natural Talents of Women and How They Are Changing the World, refers to this as a elegance with speech. In terms of instructing or coaching, women have an advantage as well. The fostering characteristics that come more easily to women make it possible for women to help kids learn and grow. The correct blend of support, discipline, autonomy and restrictions will produce a kid whose self-assurance and talents are very mature and continue to surpass that of other kids. When this type of situation is used in the world of business, a woman can do the similarly for employees.
Once more, Helen Fisher’s studies as documented in The First Sex states, “Women are, on average, more interested in cooperation, harmony, and connections – a network of support.” She continues, “Women characteristically believe everyone can succeed in business; they take a win-win attitude in the office world.”
Many women are also skilled at multi-tasking or multi-focusing. Juggling people, information, time limits and all the needed resources becomes critical to the success of the teams’ results.
Helen Fisher references human’s evolution, even in ancestral times, a woman had to raise helpless and long-dependent babies under very risky situations demonstrating the need for the ability to do multiple things even back then. I love her description: “In order to rear helpless infants, ancestral mothers needed to do a lot of things at the same time. Watch for snakes. Listen for thunder. Taste for poison. Rock the sleepy. Distract the cranky. Instruct the curious. Soothe the fearful. Inspire the tardy. Feed the hungry. Mothers had to do countless daily chores while they stoked the fire, cooked the food and talked to friends.”
For sure, not all women have the ability to mother and not every woman is the same, but all women have the skill to identify the abilities they have and use them for individual and professional empowerment. Women can be just as proficient at business management as men. If examining what makes you a successful woman is interesting to you, go aheah and create an inventory of all your individual traits – those natural skills and empower yourself to elevate to new stratas of achievement.
